India's apex drug regulator has granted permission for conducting the phase II/III clinical trial of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin COVID-19 vaccine in the age group of 2 to 18 years, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The National Cancer Registry Programme was started by ICMR with a network of cancer registries across the country in December 1981.
The total number of COVID-19 cases rose to 34,63,972, while the death toll due to the disease climbed to 62,550 with 1,021 people succumbing to it in a span of 24 hours, the ministry's data updated at 8 am showed.

"The homeopathy compound screened in vitro at NARI against HIV has been found to have a lot of potential in effectively killing the virus," Dr Ganguly told UNI. However, he refused to name the compound as there were Intellectual Property Rights issues involved. Moreover, there was a memorandum of understanding with the company which had given the compound, which is already being used in treatment of some other disease.

The case fatality rate has declined to 1.83 per cent, the ministry data stated.
The COVID-19 case fatality rate was recorded at 1.49 per cent.
The country's active caseload increased to 2,10,544 and constitutes 1.85 per cent of the total infections. The recovery rate dropped to 96.75 per cent from 96.82 per cent on Saturday.
The ICMR-NICED authorities said it could be possibly because the kits "have not been standardized"
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 86,04,955 pushing the national recovery rate to 93.76 per cent
There are 1,55,025 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprise 1.44 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
